Ideal performance for size.4
I have never owned a Macintosh product of any kind. The 13 inch MacBook fit all the specifications I wanted in a laptop including size and battery life. I was wary to make the change but the transition has so far been smooth. This includes my own customization of the laptop preferences and finding applications that fulfill my needs when the ones that come with it do not.

The screen works great. I have no problems with the glossiness in any way. Once the machine is on, I pay no attention to reflections most of the time. This may be due to the fact that I tend to avoid using it in lighting situations that would provide the most reflections. The auto-dim/brighten feature due to light sensitivity is nice. I am not sure it has a significant effect and it does seem overly responsive to small light changes.

Most displayed images and texts are sharp and colorful enough for my taste but it seems like some people may be annoyed by it a little bit. There does appear to be some slight blurring of text at certain positions on the screen, especially 'l's, 't's and 'f's where there is the horizontal line on each of those letters. There does not appear to be that line for 'l's in the default font but in some fonts it is there and you may notice the slight blurring.

Also, the max resolution of 1280 by 800 was at first surprising. I was expecting at least one more step up in resolution but it is still suitable for how I use it and the screen size. As I think about it now, an extra step up may make it more difficult to see clearly on because of the screen size. I do not think of the screen size as a con, if I did I would have gotten the 15 inch MacBook.

The trackpad works wonderfully in the native OS and I have no problems with the use of the gestures. The gestures do not feel in any way awkward or cumbersome to me. I have never had experience with that kind of interaction on a trackpad and the gestures feel reasonable for the actions that they perform. I find that the trackpad is the most accurate one I have used among a few laptops. This includes response to my own changes in finger movement speed, the tap clicking instead of using a button, and the scrolling gesture which I use the most among the gestures available.

The sound quality from the built-in speakers is fine. I cannot even find the speakers as of now. If you want high quality, get some headphones. Also, the microphone works surprisingly well. Again, if you want high quality, get your own microphone.

I cannot comment much on the built in camera as I have barely used it. It does appear to work satisfactorily if you want to use it for webcam chat programs.

I have used Bootcamp to install the Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit version on a separate partition. The partitioning and installation process is easy. The only issue I have with Bootcamp is the fact you cannot adjust the size of a partition once it has been made. If you only use Bootcamp and want to change the Windows partition size, you must delete the partition and restart the whole process. There may be a third-party application that you could use but I personally think it should be a feature within Bootcamp.

The trackpad is significantly harder to use in Windows, but keep in mind this is a step down from what I consider to be the most responsive trackpad I have ever used. When I say 'significantly', I mean only that I can tell a difference. It is not an extreme difference. It is still quite usable. You do not get to use of most of the gestures as they are dependent on features within OS X Leopard; though the scroll gesture is still there and works well enough.

The Windows install was for playing games only. I did not want to leave them behind simply because I switched to a Macintosh. I also will most likely be using it to run SAS which is a statistical software. I am not sure if it will work or not at this point, but I am hopeful considering everything else works fine. The drivers are alright except for the 9400M graphics card not having newer drivers released by nVidia last I checked and some audio stuttering every few minutes. This does not represent a strong annoyance to me as it only lasts a few seconds. The stuttering is at a rapid rate so not much noise gets lost to it. Any voices are still audible and understandable as is the music and other effects.

The graphics are surprisingly good. Left 4 Dead and Bioshock both run fairly well. I have most options put to their highest settings except for the resolution and some texture settings. This is to ensure a smooth framerate which the MacBook is capable of in those two games. Do not expect max settings in newer games when purchasing this laptop. I have no problem with this. I am not the type of person that needs the best graphics. One final thing, games take a lot of energy and the battery life is greatly reduced when playing them. This is the case with all laptops and you will want to plug it in if you play graphic intensive games.

In general, I really enjoy my purchase of the 13 inch MacBook. Of course it does look nice but the main plus is how slim it is for the performance I get out of it. The battery life is excellent. Most features of the laptop are perfectly satisfactory or exceed my expectations. I do not recommend it for power users who want the best performance, people that have tons of peripherals (it only has two USB ports), or hardcore gamers that expect top quality graphics capabilities. It seems to be an excellent general use laptop but may not be the best choice for those who have a specialized need.

Everything I expected and more5
This is my first laptop and my first mac. I already had an ipod and an iphone, and I was sold on the software and intuitiveness of it all. Being a PC user my whole life, I was a bit intimidated to get a Mac. However, after going full speed into it, I was up and comfortable after only a few days. I am officially sold. All future computers will be macs. I also now greatly regret getting my mom a new dell with vista on it a year ago. I nearly got her a mac but was worried because I didn't know the OS... turns out that I knew the OS of vista no better. Her next Christmas present will be a mac mini and an ipod touch.

First Mac - Loving it!5
This is my first Mac. I had almost no Mac experience prior to this computer. I love it!

Really fast set up and start up unlike Windows.
The track pad has so many functions - scroll, zoom in, zoom out, left and right click, switch program, etc.
The aluminum case is really solid (except my friend accidentally dropped his luggage and his Macbook was inside and it made a small dent...still works perfectly).
Battery life on this is great so far! If you are using the laptop and charging the battery it will take a while but once fully charged it's 2+ hours.
You can connect to other MacBooks via Bluetooth. Easy to connect but it's slow to transfer large files.

The only con I can think of as a first time Mac owner is that I am still learning all the different commands. And now that I'm used to using my Mac I press the wrong buttons when I'm using Windows. I am also having trouble using the same button functions/commands in Microsoft Excel :(

It's a great deal from Amazon (no shipping, no tax) and it was delivered about 2 - 3 days after I ordered it.

Product Description

Instead of assembling a notebook from many minor parts, the MacBook was reinvented from just one: the solid-aluminum unibody enclosure. It gets full credit for making MacBook thinner, lighter, and even more stunning. But it's not all beauty. Because of the antibody, this MacBook is also durable. It was designed to take on your world. So slip it into your backpack or briefcase and pull it out wherever you go - it's impressive in any setting. The MacBook uses a graphics processor that economizes space in a whole new way. A traditional computer logic board contains multiple components: the CPU, two chips that control communication throughout the computer, and the graphics processor. The logic board in the MacBook contains only two components: The CPU and a graphics processor with all of the core logic built into a single chip. The beautifully seamless, remarkably thin design isn't the only gleaming quality of the LED-backlit display. Open your MacBook and you're instantly greeted by glorious full screen brightness. The aluminum enclosure is perfectly integrated with a glass overlay that stretches to the edge of the notebook, providing a completely unobstructed picture. Anything you view, including the glossy widescreen display itself, is a spectacular experience. The LED-backlit display is more power efficient. And it's mercury- and arsenic-free, so it's greener than ever.

best computer ever5
the choice lap top of school of the art institute of chicago, this is one of the best i've had the chance to work with. it as all art students need for life.

A Marvel...5
I guess Macs are just a matter of taste, but for me this machine is beautiful. It performs wonderfully, it's fast both with mac os and vista, games run great. I don't find the screen to be annoying, sure is reflective but once you are focused on what you are doing you completely forget about it. at least that's what happened with me, it runs hot under vista, specially playing games. nothing that bothers me though, what is important to be noticed is that the edges are prompt to be dented very easily, so special caution should be taken.

I previously had a late 2007 macbook pro and this one is noticeably faster, and has a brighter screen. Black keys on aluminium? they look awesome and matches the screen bessel very well... this design has no equal hands down.

Great buy!5
I'm very much pleased with it, in all aspects. It's really a beauty and delivers what it promises. Concerning the complain that some people have made about the glare problem of the screen, if it bothers you that much I'd say you can easily remedy that by using one of those anti-glare films for the screen.

Great computer!4
So far we really love this computer. We have a wireless Internet and printer connection and they both work beautifully. Strong signal. The only negative I can think of is I like the glassy screen better than the mat finish which this model has. We have an iMac with the glass screen and it is so much clearer and brighter. But other than that, this Macbook Pro does everything we need it to do.

Bought a MacBook Pro from Amazon5
The MacBook Pro arrived quickly and I was pleased that it was exactly as advertised. I did have a problem with the laptop crashing 2 times in a 3 week period, so I took it into Mac Authority (apple store/service) and they replaced a faulty hard drive, free of charge. This was, in no way, the fault of Amazon, it appeared to be a manufacturing problem, but it was taken care of by the Apple people. I have my Mac back now and absolutely love it!

A good compromise between portability and power4
A current iMac or Mac Pro would have been a faster computer, but the price was right and, for a portable, I'm impressed with the MacBook Pro's capabilities. The most taxing things I use this computer for are World of Warcraft, video chat, and development work using Eclipse.

Most of the time, I use this in a stationary environment, and have added an Apple (wired) external keyboard and a 2-button Kensington mouse. The laptop touchpad and keyboard are actually not bad to type on, but a full-size keyboard and mouse better suit me.

Pros:
- availability of a matte screen (option no longer available on current MacBook pros)
- discrete video card (GPU) does a better job handling graphics-intense video games.
- backlit keyboard is a nice bonus, even if you do touch type.
- 15" widescreen display seems larger than I thought it would be.
- standard DVI output, not a proprietary plug.

Cons:
- if you tax the GPU, you can burn through the battery charge in an hour or two.
- the bottom of the computer can get very warm, but I believe that's common in laptop form factors.

MacBook13-inch Laptop - MB403LL/A5
I am very satisfied with this system with a month of ownership. I was informed of this product through macintouch.com. My main reason for buying it was the great Amazon price ($1067) and the one Firewire port which was eliminated from the new models. I have updated OS X to 10.5.6 with no problems. The system boots up fast, the Airport wireless card picks up networks that are in range, 13 inch screen looks great, 2 GB memory, 160GB HD, all are functioning normally !!! I have not tested the battery enough without electric power, but this MacBook does produce heat at the bottom of the screen which I read is about normal for Apple products. Again, very satisfied I made the purchase !!!

Macbook 13"5
Small but mighty. Still getting used to it. I listen to a lot of internet radio, so one minus noticed immediately was the soft sound. I compensated for that by purchasing a small JLab speaker which fits into a USB port. I also was surprised that it does not come with word processing etc. capability. Needs to be purchased separately. Also I don't use the mail feature as Gmail stores all my mail online and Skype stores all my phone numbers online.

Unbeleivable deal, Amazing computer5
Its super fast, no freezing or random error messages, excellent graphics. 100% happy with this purchase.

Great computer for the dollar!5
Bought this for my daughter, but use it a good bit myself. Other than the small keyboard, it is an A+ effort, and quite the deal at a little over $300.

Nice Notebook4
This is a good notebook if you are interested in portability, it is fast but prefer it with GNU debian or ubuntu. It is full supported by linux kernel. There are specific kernel binaries.

The keyboard is small, but you can get used to it after some time of constant use.

Great Notebook4
Works well. Very long battery life, quick and good wireless connection, solid construction, no rattles. Comes with travel pouch. Keyboard is efficient, but cramped. If I had to do it over again, I would order the 10" model rather than the 9".

Very convenient little machine4
I purchased this about 3 months ago. I've been very pleased with it. I bought it mostly to use when traveling but I occasionally use it around the house since it is so portable.

The screen is excellent. Very crisp and clear. Much better than my 15" Dell.

I've taken it to many, many locations and have never had a problem getting on to the various wireless networks. It immediately finds the network.

Battery - I purposely waited to purchase the 6 cell to get a longer life. It generally gets 3 - 4 hours. For some reason I was expecting closer to five hours. The battery indicator seems off at times. It fluctuates often when in use. The six cell battery does add a little extra weight to the machine. I've thought about buying a 3 cell for a spare to use when I know I won't need to be on the netbook for long.

Noise - have never noticed any fan noise.

Touchpad - it's okay. I'm not a huge fan of touchpads. I have a mini-mouse designed for laptops. I tend to use that if I'm going to be on for a while and/or I'm at a table or desk.

Video camera - it appears to have a built-in video camera but no software to operate it. I haven't gotten around to seeing if I can download a driver somewhere.

Speakers - these suck! Even when I have the speakers up to the highest volume and there is no noise in the room, I can barely hear anything. Sometimes it is worse than others- depending upon the source of the video. I have found using earphones helps a little.

Lack of CD drive - this is a little more inconvenient than I thought it would be. There really is no way to install software on the Aspire without either downloading from somewhere or connecting this into a home network and downloading it that way. Since I don't have a home network, I'm probably going to have to purchase a portable cd/dvd drive for about $100.

Lastly, this thing fits perfectly in the totes made for portable DVD players.

did never work!!1
This will not be an actual review since the product never worked! After it arrived at the date specified, when I turned it on after 8-9 seconds and at the Acer logo, it shuts off no matter how many times I tried. Bad luck!
The worst thing is the process you have to go through for a replacement: they (Amazon) do not believe you that the product is defective(!), they ask you to personally contact Acer, make a case number with them, provide the feedback to Amazon and then... after they receive the product, they will decide!

On top of that the technical support to Acer they provide, asks you first of all to provide credit card information and while saying that they do not promise your issue to be resolved they ask for $85 to be available from your card just in case...!
Why should I spend so much time, effort and more money for someone that does not believe what I am claiming?
I know ( from I what I have read) the computer itself is a very good product but the resolution service, and troubleshooting of both Amazon and Acer is of the worst quality!
After I spoke with an Amazon representative over the phone, they do not want to accept a replacement order without going through the above process so I am sending back the computer for a full refund!

Packs a good puch for such a little computer4
I shopped for this product at several retail and home shopping networks and by far your price was the best. Keep up the good work of providing excellent product name brands at such an affordable price. I will continue to comparison shop given today's economy but I will always return to your site to compare for the final price. Your shipping was right on also no delays and that's a good thing. Look forward to shopping with you in the near future. Great product the Acer Aspire One. Would recommend it to anyone that wants lightweight portability and excellant battery life 5+ hours.

Best Netbook on the Market5
First of all let me say that I ordered the NC10 with one day shipping and sure enough I received it the following business day from Amazon. I had to replace my first unit because it had an intermittent problem with the webcam (I believe the webcam connector probably came loose in shipping). Amazon immediately shipped out a new one with the same one day shipping as the original. They replaced my defective unit before it was even returned to them. Great customer service. This is a great netbook, mini-laptop or whatever you want to call it. I maintain a network of Desktop and Laptop computers and the more I use this thing, the more it impresses me. It's very fast for what it is. It boots up fast, has a very bright screen and is very solidly constructed (more so than the other netbooks I tried). I made three partitions on the hard drive - one for system, one for data, and one for backup. I also use a mobile wireless data USB dongle which enables me to access the internet from almost anywhere at any time. Using the keyboard is almost like using a full size laptop keyboard. The keys are large, with a soft touch and feel very solid. The battery life is fantastic. I started to use it in battery saving mode but then switched to max performance with continuous bright screen because it was still giving me 4 to 5 hours of use with approximately 40% battery remaining - outstanding. I really love this little thing. It may cost a little more but believe me it's money well spent.

Nice little computer5
I got the blue, and love the color! I intend to mostly use this when traveling, to use in hotel rooms to check e-mails and be able to get on the internet. This is perfect for that! It was important for me that it be light weight which it is. I am not really "techie" about computers, but it certainly fits the use that I wanted it for. The 6 cell battery was important and for me, worth the extra money. Since it is not my primary machine, I am hoping the 1 GB will be enough.

I feel like I got a great product for the price.

Great netbook5
Nice, light, and fast. After reading dozens of reviews about all these netbooks, made the choice for the samsung and Im extremely happy. Keyboard is very usable, unlike some the the ones i tested at bestbuy, and the battery actually lasts. they say 6 and i don't doubt it. i've taken it to 5 easily and it says it has an hour and half left.

Highly recommend.

Dave

great item5
if you are looking for a portable dvd player or net book, i would suggest getting this instead. it is great for me, i am in the navy on a submarine where space is not in great abundance and this thing is great! battery life is outstanding.

Great compact personal laptop5
This little laptop is great. The keyboard on this model, I believe, is a little bigger than on previous models of the Asus EeePC. The ATOM N270 processor was definitely the way to go for a laptop of this size. I thought I needed to upgrade the RAM to 2GB of OCZ memory, but had issues with that. The OEM installed 1GB memory appears to be enough. I would check the laptop's performance first before deciding on any upgrades. The laptop has a sleek finish and looks very professional. Also, a long battery life with a 6-cell battery and a big 160 GB Hard Drive are great to have in a small form factor. You won't regret it!

WOW! What a great little netbook.5
The EEE netbook is everything I had hoped for in a portable, lightweight computer. It surfs the net, handles E-mail and displays digital photos easily. The keyboard is perfect for my size hands. The only change that is needed is the placement of the right shift key. It is way too far right from the home keys with the pageup key in the way.

I PURCHASED THIS FOR MY YOUNGEST SON FOR XMAS. IT WAS THE BEST THING FOR HIM. HE USES IT EVERY DAY AND HAS SEEN RESULTS IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS ITEM TO ANYONE THAT WANTS TO LOSE A FEW INCHES FROM VARIOUS PARTS OF THEIR BODIES.

great equipment5
Great piece of workout equipment. Much easier to do situps/crunches with this than it is alone on the floor. Easier on your back (mostly) as well.

I am a little over 6 feet tall, and was comfortable enough on the machine. I liked the way that it would let you bend backwards as far as you can stabd it. Makes stretching the back easy and not too painful.

good for people who can't do conventional crunches5
I have cervical arthritis and a few disk bulges in my neck. In a very short time span, I went from being an exercise fanatic with a 6 pack any younger person would envy to not being able to exercise. Thanks to a good therapist and dr., I am on the road to exercising again. But, I have to be careful of anything that puts strain on my neck. I probably spent a good two months looking at different ab exercisers before finally deciding on the Ab Lounge XL. I admit, it was hard for me to buy this type of exercise equipment. I swore I'd never use anything like this when I could just do "real exercises" instead. After using mine for a month, I'm a satisfied convert. I had read some reviews in which exercisers said they weren't getting as good of an ab workout as they'd hoped, or that the Ab Lounger was more for beginners. I realize I'm not in as good of shape as I was a year ago, so I might not be the best judge, but I can see my ab muscles shaping back up already. I'm a small person, so I like that I can flip the foot pedals up to do the exercises. And, for me, the exercises are plenty challenging. Would I recommend using the ab lounger as a sole form of exercise? Absolutely not. But, it works for the abs, which is what it is meant for. Mine makes some squeaking noises, despite my small frame, but it doesn't seem to cause it any problems - and I did buy it used from the Amazon Marketplace. I say it's worth a 5.

Like my bike5
I'm so glad I got this exercise bike from Amazon.com. It was recommended by my son who has one, and it is as good as he said it is.
Even though it's freezing and windy outside I can watch a half hour show or the news and get a good workout (in good weather I play as much tennis as I can). As I pedal I add a variety of arm exercises to tone and to increase the cardio effect.
This exercycle is compact and quiet, the seat is extremely comfortable, and it is easy to move across the room or to fold and put out of the way.
A very good value. I definitely recommend it.

No Doubt4
I was interested in getting a good workout for my thighs. I read the reviews...they were either too good or not the answer I was looking for. So far I have not been disappointed and I usually spend up up to 30 minutes in a steady workout per day. It is what it is, a bike made for exercise!

I may actually use this for exercing, not as a coat rack!4
It came quickly but was missing the front stablizer so I contacted the seller to find a number/address for the manufacturer but seller immediately sent replacement part, so I'm good. I used it today and found the bike works really well, I worked up a nice sweat (but I'm horribly out of shape).

Cons: I'm a short person so mounting the bike can get a little tricky, especially if my hip joints were in their "don't expect me to lift my leg" mode. It's not all that easy for me to get on, or off, the bike. The V where the seat and the arms intersect is too high for my short legs and that may dissuade me from buying another in the future. The seat is also too hard even though I bought and installed the double-gel seat cover. I had to dismount about every 10 mins to allow my backside to regain circulation and stop hurting so much. After 30 mins, I had to stop. I'm aiming to do an hour daily so I'm not sure how well that's going to work out since I don't have a lot of free time in any given day for recirculation breaks.

Pros: It's easy to put together and does fold out of the way--and in a small apartment that's huge. I watched the news and did some arm exercises while I was pedaling--maybe I'll buy wrist weights and work my upper body while the lower is pedaling. I did work up a nice sweat--so set your water within reach, and a nice damp towel to swab your brow and hands is a good idea. Bike feels real stable, computer was easy to read and easy to figure out (I do have to make a chart so I can keep track of my efforts). I got a neck ache so I'll have to figure out what posture is best for this biking thing.

All in all, it's worth the price. No, it's not for people already bike fit and in geat athletic shape because it won't give you the challenge you want. But for people like me, who have lives that often supercede exercising, it's a nice bike to get a little work out on as time allows (I'll be able to ride even when everyone else is sound asleep without disturbing them). I am determined to get into better shape and this should help. I might even be able to read while pedaling (too bad you can't buy a book rack for it).

Awesome read if you also read the 1 and 2 stars5
This is great simple product at a cheap price, it is sturdy.
Some of the people gave it a bad review because they said it is hard to get the handles on but if the would have bothered to read the first line of the directions they would have read the company recommends you use a little lotion or soap, I used a skirt of lotion on the bar before slipping the handles on. It took me about 5 seconds to fully assemble and the handles does not slip off as my son has also been driving it all around.

Perfect at-home elliptical4
I bought this for use in my condo, and it is quiet, doesn't take up much space, and has everything I could hope to have in an elliptical trainer. I love having the TV in the screen. It has a lot of parts, and my boyfriend spent a few hours putting it together for me. The base weighs a ton, and somehow the delivery team and my boyfriend managed to carry it up four flights of stairs. That's something to note as well - this is a heavy duty piece of equipment, and I don't expect this to fall apart or break anytime soon. Now that it is all installed, I use it every day. I would definitely buy this again.

Great Product. Durable, Quiet, and smooth4
This item has a gym like equipment quality. It is very heavy and durable. The motion is very fluid and quiet. Although you have to put it together, the instructions are VERY good and the bags of hardware are labeled with the figure in the manual that they go with making it very easy to install. I'm very pleased with the purchase so far.

Mixed Review3
i ordered the product on november 18 and recived it november 28. the shipping was quick and the delivery guy brought it right in my house. i chose this eliptical over the numerous others because at the gym i use the life fitness 95i or 95xi. the problem is that machine new is about 3500 at the least and about 2000-2500 used. i used their home model and did not like the stride length. so after a month long search for the right machine i came across the iron man ascender. i read product reviews and this one had the best out of all of the other machines. the instructions were easy to follow and the actual assembly only took 2 hours. your probably reading this and thinking to your self why only 3 stars. well here is the problem. the mounting bracket for the screen is supposed to come with 4 hex screws according to the manual. but when you check your parts you get 4 phillip's head screws. the problem comes when you try to mount the bracket with the wrong screws it never connects the screen mounting bracket to the eliptical. the mounting bracket holes aren't threaded so when the screws go through the eliptical base to the screen brackt they don't catch on anything and since they don't come with nuts the screen just sits there not connected to anything. this is a BIG problem. the only way to connect the bracket to the eliptical is to put the screws in on the opposite side but due to the screen it is VERY frustrating to get the screws in without dropping them in the neck of the eliptical. then after you do that the screen still isn't securely mounted. when i called ironman fitness they informed me that they are in the process of moving their offices so they won't be taking calls until december 8. that's 11 days from now. i actually just got up and used the machine to verify it works and it works, great. the only problem i have is that the screws from the factory were jacked and ironman fitness is unavailable to do anything about it.

Excellent camera5
I've been into photography for more than 30 years and although I am not a professional, I do have some technical skill with the old SLRs. My first digital camera was a Nikon4300 which was the first generation of cameras of this type. It was an "ok" camera. Pictures came out decent but the lag time in between shots was annoying. It had "some" manual function which I liked but after 4 years of owning it I was ready to move up to something more similar to my old Minolta X700. So I decided to try this Canon and I'm not sorry I did. I've taken some great evening shots of NYC Times Square and I must say that they look fantastic!. I have pets and grandchildren who are always moving about and it's hard to get a great shot but this camera came through with flying colors! The auto focus and face detection is a life saver for sure. And it has all the manual controls I need to keep me busy with my creative side. All in all, this camera is a gem. It is "high end" for point and shoot and I'm just surprised that I paid the same amount for this camera as I did for the Nikon4300 (when it was new) but hey, that's technology for you.

lot of bang for the buck....4
Powerful small camera, instruction booklet a Must read,,,A wonderful alternative, when my SLR becomes a little
to intimidating in the back streets and alleyways of Baltimore city and elsewhere...Image quality suffers @--
higher ASA options.....This is my third G camera.....Not much to report re. print quality as of yet.......
Always in my pocket.........................................

best point and shoot I have ever owned5
This camera is for someone who knows what an F stop is, as well as aperture value. ISO speeds, RAW, exposure bracketing and more. If this is all Greek to you than move on, this is not the camera for you. This camera is for professional or amateur photographers who do not want to lug their big SLR with them everywhere. This camera has amazing quality and is very easy to use. It is also extremely flexible for people who know what they are doing. Exposure compensation, ISO, and shooting modes are all conveniently located on the camera with real actual dials. The camera looks and feels very classic. All black is beautiful. It's also metal and feels Hefty. Years ago when I used to shoot with real film cameras I could drop old Minoltas and Nikons and not be too worried. This feels like it might survive a small accidental fall. The design harkens back to some small miniature Lieca, Minox, or olympus models of long lost film models. James Bond might use this. It has a large battery and also a traditional viewfinder that even lets you focus it. The manual focus on the camera is it's weakest trait. You need to clumsily use the dial on the back. Had they only made the ring on the front adjust manual focus this would have been extra credit and A++. Still for a point an shoot to even have a manual focus option is great. This is a bit bulkier than the miniature card deck cameras available out there. It is still, in my opinion, small enough to put in your wife's purse, take to a wedding, and even place in ones suit pocket, minus the strap. You can buy add ons for this like a telephoto convertor and external flash. I guess if you only have this one camera and need as much flexibility as possible theses add ons could be helpful. I personally have a full frame SLR for all the times I need 100% flexibility, more lenses and such. I would only need the underwater case for this. Underwater cases for small cameras like this can be so much fun at pools and swimming at sea. All I need now is the Canon case, the underwater case and I'm set.

I am not sure why point and shoot cameras do not have the same frame proportions to current SLRs by Cannon. Perhaps someone can explain this to me. I am sure it has to do with sensor size, or printing sizes or something. Still, My 20 D and 5D Mark II both are wider while this and my older SD 750 have a more narrow, more square file format. This is a mystery to me. You can set this to current TVs 16:9 aspect ratio but that is wider than the traditional SLRs. This must be an industry thing. Also, it's not a huge deal. I can not criticize the camera for this since it seems to have it's origins in the industry or point and shoots in general. I only shoot with Cannons now so it remains true to other point and shoot frame file format size.

The rear screen is very big which is nice. You can also turn it off, which is nice too, especially when you are at a dark event where the lit up screen would be an annoyance to others. You can also disable the phony shutter click. For traditionalists who like that click, there are 3 versions to choose from. If only it had a photochemical darkroom smell. :)

All in all a great camera. The price here is excellent too. I overpaid at Best Buy.

I would like to add that Best Buy is charging $495.75 for this. They do not price match and on the phone a sales clerk lied to me and said Amazon sells only used equipment which is utter nonsense. Everyone please buy this camera from Amazon.

grrrreat camera!5
I bought this camera for my daughter and when she saw it she was amazed. She recently had a kodak that broke when she dropped it, so she is really excited to have a durable camera that takes great pictures. There are so many different options and buttons, this camera was a great find!

Others better for price2
I received this camera for Christmas. My mother-in-law had a Kodak EasyShare which is GREAT! It takes the most remarkably clear pictures for a point and shoot. She could not find that camera for me, so the Canon SX110 IS was recommended. It takes very fuzzy pictures in low light and the stability is not good. There was a world of difference between her pictures and those taken with the Canon (taken at the same place, same light, etc.). After research, I have opted to go with the Panasonic DMC-FZ28K which has remarkable reviews. After I receive it, I will let you know.

In the meantime, if you are going to spend $200+ on a camera, there are certainly ones better than this. I would take a little time and do some research - but the Kodak EasyShare is definitely a better buy.

suereview4
The camera produces clear images. I have yet to print, but expect hi quality prints. The manual could use some work on translating tech speak to English for those of us over 16.

Amazing camera5
I have been waiting for DSLR technology to reach this level: 12.2MP, better than 3 frame/s speed combined with an 8GB memory card which holds 1300+ images at full resolution make this camera perfect, being a Canon with their wide range of lenses makes it the perfect DSLR. I had been watching prices for a while and Amazon not only had the best price, but also delivered the camera to my door on Christmas eve. Good vendor, great camera, and the best price what more could I ask!!

Great Camera & Software but bad manual5
The camera is exceptional for the money. The manual that comes with it is dry however and makes it hard to grasp the concepts of how and when to use specific functions. In order to quickly learn how to use all that it had to offer, I bought a training video and I am very happy that I did as it saved a lot of time. There are many out there but I can only speak to the one that I bought which was "Canon Rebel XSi DVD Training Guide Tutorial Lessons XTi".

The software that comes with the camera is excellent as well but again the instructions are sorely lacking. [...]. There are a series of Canon sponsored videos that will guide you in using this powerful software.

Lens: I have the 18mm-55mm and 55-250mm kit lens. These work well. I wanted to do portraits and closeups with a beautiful "bokeh" (which is Japanese for the blurring effect behind the subject due to a shallow depth of field). For this, I also bought the Canon f1.4 50mm, which is my best lens.

I also got the Canon 580EX II flash. Again, poor instructions and confusing but just Google for help as there are only a few things that a beginner needs to know. Get a "diffuser" with it as well to help control the shadows that it can cast.

If you want to use the "mirror lock" function on the camera you should also get a wireless/RF (not infrared-IR) remote. Just be careful to make sure that it works with the "mirror lock" function as some do not.

So, if you like photography and are a serious amateur, you can't go wrong with the Canon xsi in my opinion.

Had High Hopes!2
After reading countless reviews and fighting with the wife about what camera we should buy to replace a 3yr+ Old Canon 5Mp Powershot 610 we decieded on the Rebel EOS XSi. This camera turned out to be terrible in numerous apspects. Auto-focus is next to useless. Nothing seemed to be in focus, even pics taken with our old Powershot 610 were better indoors and out. Flash is worse then a candle for typical lite rooms. Expect to have to buy an add on flash with any of these DLSR the image processors just dont work with adundant light just like camcorders. Pictures were either under or overexposed and sometimes the flash wouldnt even go off. The camera grip is aweful and you constantly either cover the red eye reducer or the flash with your hand while trying to hold it. Even my wife who has small hands had a hard time holding it. The auto-focus issue seems to be a recurring issue with the this camera for months now after reading reviews. These entry DSLR dont seem to be living up to the expectations one would expect for a $700+ camera plus lenses and accessories.

Better than the Nikon P804
I got the Canon SX10 because it seemed to be better than the Nikon P80. But when I brought it home, it frustrated me that I couldn't zoom in and focus on someone's eye while 5 feet away. (the P80 could either) I also didn't think it did great in poor lighting without the flash. The files were a bit grainy, and sometimes it didn't focus.

So I returned it and got the Nikon P80. I fell in love with it because of the ease of use, the manual was so easy to understand, everything seemed wonderful. But when I compared the pictures side by side with the Canon pictures, Canon came out ahead. I took pictures with both cameras of the same things, at the same times and settings. The Canon images were more true to color, they were clearer, and flash didn't dominate or change the lighting. It performed better in almost everything, and it's a much more solid feeling camera.

THE VIDEO AND SOUND QUALITY WERE MILES APART!! The Nikon video was very grainy and not too focused. When I played it back on my computer, the mono sound was so hollow. But the Canon video was so clear I could see my reflection in my daughter's eye! And the sound is truly in stereo! There is NO comparison. You can even take still pics while doing a video with the Canon, but not with the Nikon.

Nikon is definitely better at taking sharp, clear images in poor lighting. But in the zoom, Canon is slightly ahead.

I don't really like the design of the Canon, specifically the location of the three buttons where my thumb likes to hold the camera. One of them is the DELETE button! I keep accidently pressing those buttons! They should not be there. There should be a rubber grip like on the Nikon, and nothing else.

Also, I like the lens cap better on the Nikon than on the Canon, but for the quality of the pics and especially the video and stereo sound, who cares about the cap!

Well, I went back to the store and asked for my Canon. They still had it in the same place when I had returned it the day before. I'm loving it now. I will learn to grip my camera wider so that I don't hit the buttons, and I will zoom out just a bit to get that perfect shot.

There is yet another thing. When I looked at the "details" for the files, the Nikon ones recorded at 300 dpi, and the Canon ones were only at 180 dpi. So I don't know what's going on there. They were both set at the highest, largest, superfine settings. Oh well. I still think the Canon SX10 performs better than the Nikon P80.

delivery was defective with not working1
Hi guys,

I had done pretty good research before buying this product. seemed the best in my price range and configuration. however on using it seems auto mode is not functioning correctly. i don't see flash working, aperture control is not as expected, i find image blurred in case of movements

would be returning the product soon
thanks

Fantastic camera for the Money! Everything in one Pkg. It does take a 52mm uv or polarizer lens5
Contrary to other reviews, you can put a 52mm UV or polarizer lightweight lens on the end of the zoom They fit, I have done this with mine.
t takes great pictures and I bought it as a upgrade to the Cannon S5 IS (that you have to use converter lenses to attain what this SX10 IS already has built into it). The only carry over that I can use from my Canon S5 IS, with the SX10 IS, is the Speedlite 430 flash for the external hot shoe. The manual and other reviews state that no lenses can be attached. They are wrong!!! I have numerous step up and step down rings from my other cameras and lo and behold, found that the end of the SX10 IS can take a 52mm ring or in other words a 52mm polarizer or uv lens etc. can be attached to it. This is true because I now can attach them to mine. Also, I do not like the lens cap that came with it., even though it can be attached to the strap. I had another cap from another camera that was a 52mm with a cord that was attached to it and I put this cap on my new camera instead. Just Google 52mm lens cap with a string and you can purchase one for under 4 dollars. I also use 8gb or larger SD cards and the new 2900 MIH rechargeable batteries (nothing lower than 2900) that last all day. This is the camera that I will be using for a long time. It has everything built into it with no need to carry additional heavy lenses. I highly endorse it. The flip out lcd is another plus.

Even my wife likes this camera!4
My wife, who has a difficult time taking pictures with even an old Polaroid, LOVES this little mino hd! It is SO easy to use. The video quality is better than average, the only complaint is that the camera is so small I have difficulty keeping it steady. Otherwise, after the video is taken, the fun really begins. ANYBODY can take the video off the camera, put it onto your computer and create titled, music-filled movies. And, to email them to friends, etc., is one-click easy. Great, fun camera. Not perfect, not the only video camera you should own, but great for taking movies of grandchildren and klutzy wives!

Great little Camcorder-Perfect for Mac Users5
I got the Flip Mino HD for Christmas. I love it. I have been using the RCA Small Wonder camera for about 5 months and this one is much better. The main reason I decided to get the Flip was because I use a Mac and this one is Mac compatible. I had a lot of trouble getting the movies onto my computer with the RCA. The quality of the Flip HD is much better then the RCA. I just plug the camera into my MacBook and the software pops up. It is very easy to create and edit movies with this software or import them into iMovie. I don't know what the reviewer was talking about when he said the movies don't play well on Macs older then a year. My MacBook is 2 years old and my husband's iMac is 4 years old. The movies play great on both of our computers. We do not have an HDTV. We have an old fashioned big heavy tube TV. When I plugged the camera into the TV to watch the video my husband was amazed. The picture looked better then our regular size camcorder. We can't imagine what the picture would look like if we had an HDTV. One thing that we both noticed was how good this little camera is in low light situations. I recorded my kids in a very dark room and I was surprised at how much I could see during playback. This is the perfect camera for a Mom to carry in her purse. We missed so many years of video taping because it got to be too much hassle looking for tapes and making sure the camera was charged and then having to lug the thing around. If I had had this camera 8 years ago, my son would have a lot more movies of his childhood. I highly recommend this product. I would have preferred a different color, but I can get past the boring black for such a great camera.

Great video quality, but has some annoyances.4
Pros:
super small and light, barely notice it's in your pocket.
Great video quality, even in indoor low-light.
Simple menus & buttons.
Starts up quick and silent.
Mac & Windows compatible.
No AC adapter, USB cable, or CD install needed.
Software can save edits in HD.

Cons:
Tiny fixed screen makes it hard to film from some positions.
Lens' viewing angle too narrow. Videos always feel too close to the subject.
Hard to stand up (it can't be tilt at all without falling over)
It is easy to accidentally press buttons, since they are not real buttons. Especially when you are feeling around for the record button.
No HD video-out.
No macro mode.
Most expensive of all the HD pocket-cams.
Sexy piano black finish is very easily scratched.
Very limited zoom, and video quality suffers greatly when zoomed in.
Included editing software can only cut and splice.
The Flip records video as H264, but the FlipShare software saves your edits as WMV7 (on Windows), at 50% larger than the original filesize!

Recorded Video Encoding (via GSpot):
1280x720 30fps H.264/MPEG-4 AVC 10388kbps
Audio:
MPEG-4 AAC LC 44100Hz 64kbps mono

I compared this Flip Mino HD and the ~$100 Memorex HD cam from Radioshack to see if the more expensive Flip was worth it. Overall, the Flip has great indoor video quality and is super-portable, but it is really lacking some basic features so I'm not sure the Flip is worth it's high price. I wrote a comparison article on my blog (danielsims) and you can watch my comparison video playlist on YouTube, just search on youtube for "Flip Mino Memorex".

The Best Bang for my Buck5
Is it this... or the SD1110 IS? Hmmm. It has to be this.
Smaller, heavier (in a good way), and packing more juice
than ever. I was very happy with this. I like the face
tracking, hella slickness. I like this Canon better than
my old camera the Sony T1 something.

Great little camera4
This is the first digital camera I have bought for myself, all of my others have been less than 4MP and not my choice. I chose this camera because of it's price, size, and picture quality. I'm not even close to being a professional photographer, but I have been wanting to get more into it and needed at least 10MP to take the pictures I wanted to.

Pros: A decent range of menu and function options, excellent resolution on pictures, lightweight & compact (fits in my pocket). When I started to browse the options in the main and function menus, I was a little overwhelmed because none of my other cameras had so many settings. I HIGHLY recommend reading the user manual, it answered all of my technical questions regarding this camera. Once you know how to change the settings to fit your environment, this little camera takes beautiful pictures, especially in digital macro mode, which I've always had trouble with on other cameras. The image stabilization is good, too. Only a few of my digital macro pictures have come out blurry, because I was not using a hard surface or tripod. The camera lets you know when it is "shaking" too much, which I find to be rather helpful. Another thing I particularly like (which is probably pretty common with more recent cameras I'm sure) is face detection.

Cons: The little cover for the cable to connect the camera to the computer is a little annoying, it kind of gets in the way while you're plugging in the cable.. Also, the cord doesn't go in very well, I had to push a little harder than I'd like with a piece of equipment. I'm worried about this breaking before its time.

It may have just been my computer, who knows, but when I loaded the software that came with the camera I chose to manually install because I didn't want the image viewer it came with (I like to use Preview on my Mac). When I tried to transfer the images to my computer though, it didn't work. I went back and installed the image viewer and voila, no problem. Seeing as how it was separate from the other two items to install, I assumed I could live without it, but apparently not and I really didn't want to add 300MB worth of something I didn't even want to my computer.

Overall, this is a cool camera and I'm definitely happy with it.

Great little camera5
This seems to be a very well built camera (better than the SD1100 a friend has) that does everything quite well in my limited experience with it. It's amazing that it cost me less than half what my 4 year old Canon A95 did, and has twice the resolution and is less than half the size!

This day I'll introduce you about Canon PowerShot A590IS 8MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom from amazon and I read about that ,I think that wonderfull.

BuZZ from Customer Shopping

Very nice macro capability5
I am particularly interested in macros (close-ups), and wanted an easy, tote-along camera for hikes and other nature explorations. Couldn't be happier with the A590, and for the money, it can't be beat. See sample macro image of winterberries that I uploaded. Focuses down to 2".

This was my best Christmas purchase in years5
The people who received this camera for Christmas loved it. It was, by far, the best present I have ever given.

I'll get the hang of it5
I just got the camera, and right now I'm glad there are Easy and Auto modes. I'll be carrying my little manual with me for a while, but it seems really nice. I also will have to figure out the printer for it, that I've yet to unbox. I can already say that I'd buy it again.
